NOTE (2025-04-25): On Saturday March 21, 1981, Gary’s body was discovered alongside “Rt 691 near Greenwood, VA” and transported to the Albemarle County Medical Examiner’s Office at the University of Virginia Hospital. Dr. Benjamin C. Sturgill, M.E. cited Gary’s immediate cause of death as “exsanguination” due to “stab wounds.” Dr. Sturgill’s investigation further determined that Gary’s “stab wounds” were the result of an “altercation” occuring at approximately 4:00 a.m. Saturday morning.
